The company was established in the early 1970s when Heinz Pluss (the founder of Digmesa) wanted to design and manufacture an instrument that could easily measure the water volume in coffee machines. He successfully developed the first instrument on his own, convinced potential users of the advanced nature of his design, received widespread response, and finally established DIGMESA in 1983 with its headquarters in Biel, Switzerland.
